Scooters are a hot comodity, You need to invest in at least a 5-6 ft Kryptonite lock and LOCK THE THING TO A LIGHTPOLE OR SOMETHING PEOPLE. GEEZ. I feel bad for you'all that have spent the money for a quality scooter and had it stolen by some LOW RENT PIECE OF SHIT TRAILERPARK TRASH that couldn't imagain working for something they like. Protect yourselves PLEASE. A good lock is only about $50 and a small price to pay for secrurity. Those of you that still have there scoots come to meet on the 23rd of July. |

my backup scooter was stolen last night from it's regular parking space. That's 2 scooters in less than 7 days. If you have any means of hiding our scooter I suggest doing so. |

| Derestricting vs Upgrading my Kymco People 50 |
[Aug. 7th, 2009|11:40 am] |
Hi! I'm so glad to have found this forum! Two weeks ago I bought my first scooter, a cream and tan Kymco People 50. I absolutely love it! I'd love it a little more, though, it it went just a teeny bit faster. I'm currently looking at options for upgrading it. One local scooter shop offers an 80cc upgrade kit to add 15mph to it, which would be about $300. The dealer where I bought it offers derestricting it which they say would add about 5, maybe 10mph to it for about $100. Does anyone have any experience with either of these options? Or something else entirely? What are the pros and cons of upgrading vs just leaving it as is? I love my scooter and don't want to do anything that might damage it. Thanks in advance for all of your help! Kimberli

Other than ScooterSeatCovers.com (the creator of this site is on a haitus and not taking any orders for a couple months now), does anyone know where I can get a fitted seat cover? I tried making one of my own, based on the designs at ScooterSeatCovers.com but I had a hard time getting the fit right around the front of the seat.
Thanks, Amy |

| Attempted theft |
[May. 1st, 2009|07:08 am] |
Sometime between midnight and six am this morning someone tried walking off with my scooter. I have a feeling they were a clueless drunk idiot because what happened next would be sad otherwise. The steering column was locked so they could only go in circles. They did manage to move it a few parking spaces before giving up. They eventually dropped it on its side in disgust. This added more scratches to the side panel, cracked a rear blinker and caused a fixable bad alignment on the left break grip.
No real harm done other than to their ego for being such a failure. All scooters have the ability to lock the steering column. If you don't know how to do that then pull out your owners guide. Some scooters also have a kickstand lock. These are also worth using.
Have a great day. |

Hampton Roads Magazine Did a article on scooting to work. If you are in the Hampton Roads area you can get it at almost any mega-book store or grocery checkouts. They did an interview with me and some others. As a bonus there is a picture of me looking disheveled. They only screwed up my name one time. Which is much better than average. :) |

| Time for the first round of maintenance |
[Mar. 11th, 2009|11:08 pm] |
This weekend, it's time to drop the scoot off for it's 600 mi maintenance. I'm curious if anyone out there has any recommendations on places to check out or to avoid. I bought the scoot on in Newport News and it's really not convienent to take it back up there as I live in Norfolk.
Thanks! |
